Taking the Plunge!

Splashing Around!
Splashing Around!

After all my talk, I decided to take the plunge and change themes. So, here I am splashing around in Twenty Sixteen trying to get a nice easy stroke going.

Please bear with me while I continue to have fun …..

    1. Hope you have plenty of time! It’s fun but I’ve been fiddling around for ages and this is as far as I’ve only got. Have to sort out the Home Page somehow and a load of other things. (I’m determined not to go running back to the old theme even though it felt like a comfy pair of slippers.)

      1. Change is good, Jean!
I know what you mean about needing time!!
As nice as comfy is it is good to stretch ourselves!

        1. Everything is reasonably okay except I can’t seem to master the art of creating a home page with a menu and there is an optional sidebar that I can’t activate either. I’ve asked for help from WP so hopefully they’ll sort me out. Otherwise, I may be going back to where I came from or trying a different one.
The good thing is that all my stuff is still here but not very easily navigated (by me or anyone else) and that was the whole purpose of changing apart from just wanting to have a go.

  1. How is the water temp over their at this time of year..Every year on New Years Day..there are people who dare to take the New Year Plunge in sub-zero temp (air) and the water is said to be really cold..BRRRRRRRRRRR!

    1. Hi Joni, no the sea doesn’t drop in temperature all that much here at all. It’s far more to do with what the temperature is like out of the water on any given day. Lots and lots of people swim all year round here, tides permitting. It’s been almost impossible to go in over the last number of weeks because the seas have been very wild and stormy but they seem to be settling again now, thankfully.

  2. Hi Jean,

Congrats on taking the plunge! I love the new look. I am afraid to change themes, but now I may just have to look into it, following your example.

Enjoy playing around with the new theme. 🙂

    Nancy

  3. Hi Nancy, glad you like the new look. I’m very unsure about it but hope it will grow on me and that I can sort all the navigation stuff out. If not, I’ll have to have a go at another theme or go back to where I was, if I can get there.
I’ll give this a while to see what I can do with it.
I’d definitely recommend changing if you feel the need yourself. Must say I don’t think yours needs changing at all. I like it as it is.

    1. Ah thanks Penny. I’m glad you like it. It’s just a bit too clean at the moment as it hasn’t got a home page. I can’t figure out how to cutomise one or whatever you have to do.

      1. Not sure whose it was Jean ..
I’ve come over onto my computer to see what this theme looks like on my big screen. I must admit reading the light grey and beige on grey seems to make the text not so easy to read…

        1. Thanks Val, I can easily change the colour scheme. At present, I’m trying to get a home page/front page sorted along the lines of what they show in the demo. But alas I’m not making any progress. Do you know of anyone using the theme so I can have a look at theirs? There’s also the issue of the optional sidebar and trying to activate that.
So much to learn but it’s good for the mind!

  4. Mantra for this week “change is good” … But also be aware Mercury is in retrograde until Jan 25, which suggests that technical issues will come up. ( and the help desk will be busy …)
Sorry I can’t help. I’ll look out for the them though. I think it’s great that you are giving it a go!

        1. That’s intetesting, Elen, because I can’t get it to look ‘as is’ in the description. No sign of the front page when I chose it so I’ve queried in the Forum but not quite getting the advice I need. Will plod on with a test blog!!

  5. Hey I love it and I think the top photo is fantastic…I am looking forward to logging on and checking out what has changed…so, not just great posts and photos…but new looks too….sets the mood the the rest of the year.

  6. I’m digging it! So much so that I would like to be there right this second instead of looking up forklift parts, Sigh….. 🙂

      1. Good for you, Jean 🙂 Yup, nice layout! I’d like to change to a theme that names the previous/next posts, but too chicken to try anything like that while still depending on the iPad :-/ ♥ ❤
