I absolutely love duets and have been having a most enjoyable time listening to a range of them this evening.
I see them as a type of social bridge with voices connecting perfectly.
I have chosen just one Irish duet and would love if you could tell me of a faviourite of yours from your country or place.
Islands in the Stream, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
Lovely Irish duet, by the way. I do love Irish songs.
So glad you liked it.
Me too on Islands in the Stream with Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2RBS_U0GoQ
Thanks for the link.
Came to mind almost immediately I started thinking ‘duet.’
I too love duets and this one was beautiful. .Nat King Cole and daughter Natalie Cole duet done post mortem was also beautiful…
I totally agree, Joni. So beautiful.
Beautiful!
Glad you enjoyed it, Dana.
Donny Osmond and Susan Boyle, That’s All I Ask of You. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRZXghQj-q0
Yes, a lovely choice.
“Islands in the Stream” is a great duet! I also love “In Spite of Ourselves” by John Prine and Iris DeMent – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8tTwXv4glY. And when my husband and I are feeling musical, we’ll sometimes sing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman together.
Thanks Katie.
It must be great to be a singing couple.
We enjoy it. Graham’s always been a little shy about his singing voice, but we’ve been taking lessons together for the last year and he’s really gotten comfortable and, I think, almost excited to learn new songs. It’s nice to have something unique to do together.
Ah, it must be brilliant. Tennis was my thing with hubby.
My mother, in her 80s, marched off by herself one night to a Birmingham club and sat there waiting for the Fureys to sing this, their last song of the night.
You’d go a long way to beat this by Joe Bonamassa and Tina Guo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQBkV7s0sV0
Roy, I hope they did sing it for your mother. I hope I’m like her when I,m in my 80s. First saw the Fureys in the Wexford Inn in Dublin in 1978 and saw Finbar himself here in Waterford just before the pandemic hit. Did you know he lived in Dunmore East for quite a few years in the 90s.
As for your choice, it would be hard to beat it. Where on earth did you come across it?
This opened up a whole new world, I put Duets into the search bar on Spotify and hit a bonanza!
Oh I’m delighted!
This is absolutely beautiful I love it.
Here is mine from extreme
Oh that’s a delight, Willow. Thanks for the introduction.
It is great isn’t it 💜💜💜
Brilliant. How did you come across it?
I always liked Extreme, my youngest son introduced me to their music 🎼
Sons are great like that – and in many other respects too.
How is the middle lad?
He is back at work, still suffering exhaustion, 2days on and 5days off at the moment. He may do a little volunteer work next week if he’s up to it 💜
All the boys have introduced me to lots of music as I have them. 💜💜
Poor fella. He’s a real trooper like his parents.
Lol he dose his best 🙂💜💜💜
Love this one!
Great group 💜💜
🙂 🧡
I so love when singers keep their accent – as in this lovely duet, Jean.
How about some kd lang with Sir Elton John https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0SVR3kyrdE
Two wonder queen’s together, live it 💜
Meant wonderful 💜
😀 🧡

Brilliant.
Yes, I totally agree about the accents
