Take Your Seat ~ Gatherings from Ireland # 217

I was all set over the weekend to try and sketch a chair that now lives in our garden but which was once a key part of our kitchen ~ a sturdy wooden chair.

However, I ended up gadding around the country and with seats on my mind, these two in Lismore Castle, Co. Waterford took my fancy as they differ so much from each other.

What chairs or seats capture your imagination?

  1. Hi Jean, I can’t express how envious I am of the Picture of you on the beloved chair. I would love to be in it, own it, or have taken it. I am currently exhibiting my Photographs at the Coastguard Cultural Centre in Love Lane, Tramore, Co Waterford. In this exhibition, I include an image of a deck chair titled ‘my favourite chair.’ Your blog made me think of this image, as any deck chair make me think of home and Tramore .

    1. Hi Sinead, thanks for writing. Yes, this has to be one of my favourite childhood photographs.

Looking forward to having a detailed look at your exhibition. The opening went so well that I didn’t get a chance to study the photos properly. ‘Deck chairs’ are pretty evocative, especially the kind that they used to rent out on the beach here in Tramore. All added so much to the colour and even the texture of a ‘day at the beach.’
