Casting Wishing Stones on New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and my thoughts are on the Wishing Stone Ritual which my son, Harry, and I started a good number of years ago now.

We head to Newtown Cove here in Tramore as midnight approaches. It’s like a grand amphitheatre and the stones that the tide washes up there are a magical mix.

The Wishing Stone Ritual is essentially about casting memories of the old year back into the sea where they will never be forgotten and picking one special stone which carries with it hopes and dreams for the year to come.

It is an occasion full of emotion as each year is made up of such a mixture of moments ~ from the heartbreaking to the heartmelting and beyond.

If you would like me to cast a Wishing Stone for you in memory of someone/thing from 2015 or as a wish for 2016, please let me know either here or, if you prefer, by email at jeantubridy@aol.com. We’d be delighted to have you with us in our thoughts as we pick stones that we feel would be appropriate to you.

Connections, Wishing Stones and Stepping Out

Connections was my theme word here on Social Bridge for 2014 and I’ve loved working with it. It’s brought me to places of all descriptions that I never anticipated and, most of all, it has enabled me to forge new friendships here in blogosphere and build on existing ones.

Over the last while, I’ve been pondering what the theme word/s for 2015 should be and I’ve decided on Stepping Out.

Meanwhile, tonight is the night for casting the Wishing Stones.  Let me know if you want me to cast a stone for you ~ either in the comments or through my email: jeantubridy@aol.com

I’ve just realised that I pressed publish ahead of myself so I would like to wish everyone a great ending to 2014 and a happy, healthy, peaceful 2015.

More than anything, I would like to thank you for all your support during 2014. It means the world to me!

It’s quite a few years ago now that our  New Year’s Eve Wishing Stone Ritual  was born. My son and I make our way to Newtown Cove, just outside Tramore, here in Co. Waterford in Ireland.

We each select the most perfect stones we can find and cast them into the sea. Newtown Cove is a magical place ~ high cliffs on either side and the hauntingly beautiful Newtown Wood just behind.

Such a simple ceremony, but one in which memories of the year just gone and hopes for the next are added to the whispering, or sometimes, roaring, waves.

If you would like me to cast a  Wishing Stone for you, wherever you are in the world, just let me know, either in the comments here or by email: jeantubridy@aol.com. You’ll know what that stone carries and the sea will certainly understand.

If this post feels familiar, it is one that I wrote too close to New Year’s Eve in the last few years so I wanted to give a little more notice this time round!
