Old Fashioned Shopping

I am beginning to think I am a complete freak in this crazy world as I don’t engage in online shopping. I would prefer to do without than buy stuff online and haven’t brought a stitch of clothing for months and months since the Covid issue became such a thing.

I love small shops where the owners and assistants know how to talk and be helpful without being over-bearing. And, how can anywhere beat a real, live bookshop or sports shop?

I only ever shopped for groceries online once and hated the fact that I had to deal with someone else’s idea of a ‘greenish’ banana and a ‘hard’ pear.

Yes, I’m old-fashioned but mind you I passed an online computer exam today that has been part of my Covid projects.

Are you an onliner or a real shopper?

  1. It depends on what I am purchasing. I do not like to buy groceries or clothing on line, but it is very useful for specialty items, like my Rakkasan Tea that I could only buy “in person” if I lived in Dallas. 🙂

  2. I love shopping online for many things, and although I do order groceries from Whole Foods through Amazon, I prefer to choose my own food items rather than trust others to do that for me. We don’t even get options on green bananas or ripe ones.

  3. I’m an online shopper as I hate waiting in lines and dealing with clerks who are indifferent to you as a customer. I do visit some shops but not often. I do go grocery shopping at the local supermarket and that is becoming a hassle for me as it all has to be loaded and unloaded then it begins again at home unloading putting it away..it’s tiresome…I did online grocery shopping and it was satisfactory but you don’t always get what you like and you have to go with what their delivery day is..Today it would be to the front porch delivery and then you have to carry into the home. I like to browse online but you can’t feel the clothes and check for quality like when you shop locally…We use to have a wonderful clothing store that would gift wrap at no extra charge..It closed after many years..I love book stores and hardware stores…though!

    1. Oh, I’m not saying I like shopping, Joni, especially hauling stuff around and putting it away when I get home. But, at least, it’s good to get what one actually needs/wants.

  4. I confess, I am a veteran Amazon shopper and love ordering my groceries online and picking them up curbside, so far all the produce I have ordered online has been in good shape. Now if I could get someone to carry it in and put it away I would be one happy princess!
