Courage

I’ve been thinking a lot about courage today and what it entails.  Here’s a few takes on it that I rather like:

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. (Anais Nin)

Everyone has talent. What’s rare is the courage to follow it to the dark places that it leads. ( Erica Jong)

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. (Nelson Mandela)

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. (E.E. Cummings)

A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live. (Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching)

Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day a single moment comes along to define every second that some after. Such moments  are tests of courage, of strength.’  ( Sabaa Tahir)

Courage is knowing what not to fear. (Plato)

You’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself. ( The Wizard of Oz)

    1. Glad you like them, George.
Quite a few things coincided to send me off on that path – not least hearing some of the stories of unaccompanied minors in Calais who are seeking refuge from war, torture etc.
