I love looking at the pics of Stan..he’s such a beautiful looking dog..Our son had a black labrador named Buster who has since passed on …He always liked to tease us with his toys..offering them to us and running away with them. He had a wonderfu sense of smell and alerted me to a female , had I not acted I would have been in dire trouble. It wasn’t until years later that I saw an article about how a dogs keen sense of smell is being used in detecting Cancer especially ovarian. Buster is missed by all of his family.
Stan is so handsome. Is he an English Springer Spaniel? I ask because my family 100 and more years ago always had that type of dog, and he looks like the photos I have of their dogs. Sometimes spotted and sometimes all black.
Hi Luanne, Stan is all eyes reading your comment!
He’s a cross between a Cocker spaniel and a Springer spaniel ~ known as a ‘Sprocker.’ His mother was a glorious golden Cocker and his father was a liver and white Springer. They lived on the same farm and the pups were an ‘accident,’ but a very happy one as the litter of pups was gorgeous. Stan was the only jet black one.
Spaniels so love water. There are dew ponds on the hills where often walk. Needless to say, I’m always meeting wet spaniels! Stan is beautiful. He looks so bright and full of life.
Hi Sarah, yes they seem to. My son has one who adores swimming, diving and just resting in water but Stan has a healthy respect for it and is more one for rock pools and paddling!

Hi Joni, I didn’t know about dogs being used in detecting cancers. They certainly are wonderful creatures.
Stan is beautiful
Oh, I think so too and has a great personality.
The posts are always wonderful, but I think today’s is my favourite.
Olga, this is such a lovely comment. Thanks so much. Stan sends his love!
He is lovely indeed! The light is beautiful on your pictures, Jean!
Hi Dale, it was one of those evenings when the light was really diverse and seemed to be different even a foot in every direction.
Just wonderful that you were able to capture it!

Maybe one of these days??

Stan is so beautiful. I grew up with Black English cocker Spaniels so this put a smile on my face.
How lovely to have grown up with them ~ especially black ones. Glad to have brought a smile to you.
awe… Stan is such a good blog dog! 🙂 ♥ ❤
He’d love to be in every post. Maybe I’ll set up a blog just for him.
Well, that’d sure be something fun to bark about! 🙂 ♥ ❤
