I have to confess that I’m not a huge fan of local radio, tending to listen more to the national stations, or, at least that was the case up until now.
Yesterday, I was online when a comment came through on my blog from one of the presenters on WLR (Waterford Local Radio) saying how she loved my Co. Waterford ABC idea and would like to have a chat with me about it on air.
It wasn’t exactly the usual sort of comment so I continued what I was doing but felt a quiet excitement bubbling up.
The interview for The Lunch Box, presented by Ian Noctor and Aoibhin Fallon, was pre-recorded early this morning and went out soon after one o’clock. I had intended not to re-listen to myself but then decided to sit through it as I nibbled my way through a huge salad.
I’d had a few forays into radio before but never about Co. Waterford or my blog. I just loved the fact that the blog and the Co. Waterford ABC idea were being recognised here in Co. Waterford and was overwhelmed a few hours later by receiving an email from the presenter with feedback from the listeners about places, people and events that they felt I should consider for future posts.
So there’s a sense of being ‘at home’ this evening, here in Tramore, in a whole new way that I never anticipated.
Really, you never know where a post will land or bring you!
Well done, Jean. Congratulations. You never know, do you?
Well done Jean.
Thanks Val. You’ve certainly got plenty of experience of this sort of thing and deservedly so! Sligo is so lucky to have you!
Well done and congratulations.
On another note I picked out a poem that holds my heart and soul, it took me ages to think of these times and face them but once written I felt a relief.

Thanks Willow and I feel really honoured that you brought this extremely powerful post of yours to Social Bridge. The emotional pain is so palpable but I’m glad that you felt at least some relief from having written it.
Is it not available on ‘listen back’ Jean? I can’t see it. Hope you enjoyed the experience. I’ve done a few bits over the years and I’m told I’ve got a good face for radio 😦
Hi Roy, I don’t think that it is available on ‘listen back,’ as you call it. Yes, it was very enjoyable, particularly as I knew that I had to know more about my blog than anyone else. Be sure to let me know when you’re next featuring so that I can hear that face!
That’s great – congratulations! Soon people will be stopping you in grocery stores and giving you ideas or asking for your autograph (if that hasn’t happened yet, that is).
Sheila, no autograph hunters (yet!!!!), I’m sorry to report but I was delighted with all the ideas that the listeners to the interview sent in to the programme
Wow, that’s exciting! 🙂 ❤
Thanks, KWH, it certainy was!
