I have to confess that I’m not a huge fan of local radio, tending to listen more to the national stations, or, at least that was the case up until now.
Yesterday, I was online when a comment came through on my blog from one of the presenters on WLR (Waterford Local Radio) saying how she loved my Co. Waterford ABC idea and would like to have a chat with me about it on air.
It wasn’t exactly the usual sort of comment so I continued what I was doing but felt a quiet excitement bubbling up.
The interview for The Lunch Box, presented by Ian Noctor and Aoibhin Fallon, was pre-recorded early this morning and went out soon after one o’clock. I had intended not to re-listen to myself but then decided to sit through it as I nibbled my way through a huge salad.
I’d had a few forays into radio before but never about Co. Waterford or my blog. I just loved the fact that the blog and the Co. Waterford ABC idea were being recognised here in Co. Waterford and was overwhelmed a few hours later by receiving an email from the presenter with feedback from the listeners about places, people and events that they felt I should consider for future posts.
So there’s a sense of being ‘at home’ this evening, here in Tramore, in a whole new way that I never anticipated.
Really, you never know where a post will land or bring you!
